Team Black suffered a tough loss 6-5 to Puerto Rico in 8 innings.
Team Black finished 3rd in the international pool.

Ontario Black scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning to break a 3-3 tie game open.

Ontario Black plays Puerto Rico tomorrow at 1:00pm with the winner playing Brazil.

Team Ontario Black - 2 January 2011 Results

Today Team Ontario Black played their first game of the International Bracket double knockout round against the White Rock Renegades of BC.
Team Black started the scoring in the bottom of the first, with Jade McGarr hitting a lead off triple.  Alex Sagl drove in McGarr on a 4-3 put out.  Miranda Castiglione then hit a triple.  Riley Carter drove in Castiglione with a line drive single to left field to put Team Black ahead 2-0.
In the top of the fourth White Rock put a run across the board via a leadoff single, a couple of infield ground outs and then a line drive up the middle to score the runner to make the game 2-1 for Team Black.
In the bottom of the fifth, Team Black with 2 outs pushed two more runs across the board via a single by Madison Wallace, a double by pinch hitter Gillian Murray, and a line drive shot by Kristen Marumoto to drive in Wallace and Murray to put Team Ontario Black ahead 4-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, McGarr had a leadoff line drive to right centre, followed by Amelia Maniuk’s bunt single.  Alex Sagl then hit a drive to left field for a triple plating McGarr and Maniuk to put Team Black up 6-1.
Alex Sagl earned the win and Jade McGarr was named the team’s MVP for the game.
Team Ontario Black’s next game is 3-January-2011 at 1pm versus Team Ontario Red.  

Team Ontario Black - 1 January 2011 Results

Team Ontario Black began the New Year with 3 games.  The team won their first contest against Manitoba #1 8-1 in 5 innings in which Gillian Murray threw a no-hitter.   Gillian Murray was named the game’s MVP.
Team Black’s second game of the day was against the East Norriton Avalanche.  The game was scoreless for the first four innings, and then Team Black’s offense struck for 7 runs in the fifth inning when pinch hitter Gillian Murray drove in Alex Smith, and Megan Jamieson with a double to right field.  The offense continued, with Jade McGarr hitting a double to drive in Shaina McDonald, and Gillian Murray.  Hailey Melless singled to drive in McGarr, and Alex Sagl hit a double to drive in Melless.  Miranda Castiglione doubled to drive in Alex Sagl for the seventh and final run.  Alex Sagl threw the shut out for Team Black and Gillian Murray was named the game MVP.
Team Ontario Black’s third and final game of the day was against the South Florida Mini Bulls.  It was a great game, between two talented teams.  Although Team  Black had more scoring opportunities than the Mini Bulls, Team Black lost a hard fought battle to the Mini Bulls 4-1.  Gillian Murray took the lost for Team Black and Alex Georgiou was named the game MVP for her shutout relief appearance.

Game recap Team Red

Team Ontario Red won their first game of the double knockout playoff round by defeating Manitoba 7-0 in 6 innings.
Ontario scored 1 run in the first inning  when Paige Haley singled and scored on Lyndsay Butler’s single.   The score remained 1-0 until the 4th inning when Ontario scored 4 runs.  Aspen Searle and Molly Tissenbaum hit singles and scored on Brittany MacPherson’s double.  Hayley D’Avilar earned a walk and scored with MacPherson on a single by Haley.  
 In the 5th inning Lyndsay Butler led off with a double and later scored on an infield ground out by Aspen Searle.  
In the 6th inning Hayley D’Avilar hit a double and scored on a single by Allyson Delorenzi to end the game via the mercy rule.
Brittany MacPherson  pitched the first 5 innings allowing 1 hit and recording 6 strikeouts.  Rachel Young pitched the 6th inning allowing no hits.

Team Red Game Reports

Day 3 for Team Red at the ISF Youth World Cup
Team Ontario Red found themselves in a hole down 2-0 to Team Russia going into the bottom of the 6th innings.    Ontario Red exploded for 5 runs in that inning.    Lindsay Butler hit a double and Crystal Marenteete hit a single to start the rally.   Aspen Searle , Molly Tissenbaum  and Allyson Delorenzi each hit infield singles to collect RBI’s.   Janet Leung hit a 2 RBI single to complete the scoring.
Brittany Macpherson pitched 4 shut out innings.  Rachel Young relieved in the 5th inning and pitched 2 innings allowing 2 runs.   Macpherson re-entered the game in the 7th inning to finish the game.

In the second game of the day Team Ontario defeated Regina Gold 4-3 in an exciting game with a dramatic conclusion.
Regina opened with 2 runs in the top of the first innings.  Ontario replied when Janet Leung led off the bottom of the first inning with a single.  She was sacrificed to second by Paige Haley and scored on Lyndsay Butler's double.
In the second inning Brittany Macpherson hit a 2 out double and she scored on Allyson Delorenzi’s single.   Delorenzi scored later in the inning on a single by Haley.   Regina evened the score with a run in the 3rd innings.
The score remained the tied until  the bottom of the seventh inning Allyson Delorenzi hit a sharp single up the middle to lead off the inning.  Janet Leung advanced Delorenzi to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt.  Delorenzi advanced to 3rd on a ground out.  With 2 out Lyndsay Butler delivered the game winning hit by hitting a line drive single to centre field.

Lyndsay Butler pitched the complete game giving up 2  earned runs allowing 4  hits and striking out  10 batters
